2017 Guide To a Year of New Adventures
The ice is broken on 2017 and hopes are high for an adventurous year! To get things going, our partners, KE Adventure Travel, have shared their new worldwide collection of adventure holidays for 2017. Why January? Long nights mean a greater chance to witness the Northern Lights and the natural ice caves will be fully frozen and ready for exploration.
The dramatic volcanic landscape of fire and ice is just 3 hours from the UK and the perfect place for an adventurous short break. On this active tour try glacier walking, visit geysirs, waterfalls, ice caves, see the amazing ice-chocked Glacier Lagoons at Jokulsarlon, the site of two James Bond films and spend two days exploring and sightseeing in Reykjavik.
DISCOVER A HIDDEN ALPINE WINTER WONDERLAND
Why February? There will be a great base of snow by February and a high chance of fresh snow fall during your week.
Far away from the busy downhill ski resorts in France lies the beautiful mountainous Queyras Regional National Park. It’s even considered a surprise to meet other groups in these mountains! You’ll begin a week’s snowshoeing walking up to La Croix de Curlet for excellent views of the area and by day 6 you’ll be reaching the summit of Crete de Gardiole at 2656m.

Why March? Miss the busy summer season and cycle in a cooler period with perfect temperatures of around 18-22 degrees.

Our hosts put on a selection of activities kicking off with a river kayak, rock climbing, bikes rides and time to relax on the beach. This new walking holiday will take you on a unique and active journey through the colourful highlights of north Vietnam and Laos, from the precipitous limestone islands of Halong Bay on the South China Sea, through the mist shrouded mountains and gravity defying rice terraces of North Vietnam, to Luang Prabang and the banks of the mighty Mekong River in Laos.
WALK FROM COAST TO COAST ALONG THE GR131 LANZAROTE
Why December? This is the month when you need some winter sun and Lanzarote is a perfect winter sun walking destination receiving very little rainfall at this time of year. Plus it’s only a few hours from the UK.
Sweeping sea views, endemic flora, dramatic volcanic landscape and stark beauty, Lanzarote is known as the “Island of Eternal Spring.” During this new centre-based walking holiday we stay in the coastal town of Costa Teguise and each day walk a section of the excellent GR 131 – a long distance footpath which traverses across all seven of the Canary Islands. Towards the end of the holiday we’ll hike across the highest point of the island and take a ferry to explore the charming Isla of Graciosa.
