Cotswold Outdoor Morpeth are proud to be supporting The Cheviots Challenge 2017. The event is organised to raise funds for the Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team. A voluntary organisation whose members share a common interest in providing and important life saving service 24 hours a day 365 days of the year.
The 36th Cheviots Challenge will take place on Saturday 2nd September 2017 and will start and finish at the Rose and Thistle Inn, Alwinton, Northumberland.
This event is designed as a personal challenge and is not a competition. It is a demanding event requiring personal fitness, navigational skills and the ability to endure up to 12 hours ‘in the field’, hence the recommended equipment.
There is a choice of route:
- Terry Lynn long route is about 22 miles and over 3400 feet of climbing and will include Clennell Street, Windy Gyle, Black Braes, Pass Peth.
- Eileen Lynn short route is about 17 miles and over 2600 feet of climbing and will include Clennell Street, Barrow Law, Pass Peth.
Both routes will take you through and over the beautiful Upper Coquetdale and Cheviot Hills. On the day of the event you will receive a route card and a photocopy map giving details of the route.
