We got in touch with the new Store Manager Sharon Weldon to find out more about the best of Dublin. From canoeing and kayaking on the River Liffey to quarry rock climbing in Dalkey, if you’re in Dublin or planning a trip then check out some of these top things to do in and around the city…

What's the best summer activity in and around Dublin?

Where do I start…we have city kayaking, walking tours in the Wicklow Mountains, city bike tours, quarry rock climbing, summer sports camps, all types of watersports, sailing schools and a lot of golf clubs. We also have one of the biggest parks in Europe (Phoenix Park) which is host to many charity races and sports events.

What's the best winter activity in/around Dublin?

We have an indoor ski centre, rock climbing centres, local community sports clubs, indoor ice skating, walking tours of Dublin and lots of Christmas Markets to get you in the festive spirit.

What's the best activity on land or around Dublin?

I would say it would have to be the many walks and treks we have with beautiful scenery and stunning countryside.

Whats the best activity on water in/around Dublin?

Canoeing or kayaking the River Liffey or surfing and sailing along the coast.

What's the best local walk?

That would have to be the Ardgillian Castle set in it’s stunning coastal surroundings. You’ll be greeted by one of the most spectacular views of any public park on these islands. The castle in nestled half way down a steep hill that ends at the Irish sea. The Mourne Mountains sit on the northern horizon and Rockabill lighthouse is on the eastern side.

What's the best local climb?

For cyclists there are many routes that are challenging but enjoyable depending on your fitness levels (Kilternan to Glencullen is very popular) and rock climbers love the Quarry in Dalkey.

What's the best place to take in some culture in the city?

The city bus tour brings you to the best venues and locations to soak up Irish history, from the well-known Guinness Brewery to our famous National History Museum and don’t forget to grab a pint in Temple Bar.

Give us your top Dublin fact...

A new world record was set in 2015 for the most Christmas Jumpers worn in one place and even made it into Guinness Book of Records!

If you're in the city for just one day what's the one thing you should definitely do?

You can’t miss the Viking Splash Tour, that takes you around the main sights of Dublin by land and water, in a World War II amphibious vehicle, complete with eccentric Viking tour guides. Be prepared to wear a viking hat and roar at passers by!
