Google street view team have linked up with some of the worlds finest athletes to create an incredible digital tour of Mont Blanc.

The site is an amazing collection of videos, interviews with the athletes and interactive images from the top of Western Europe’s highest mountain. Google describes in its blog that you can “Run on the summit with Kilian Jornet” or “Ice climb up a serac with record-setting alpine climber Ueli Steck”.

Following on from their first ever vertical imagery collection of El Capitan last year, this allows you to experience the summit of the mountain from the sofa. Not everyone’s cup of tea, most of us would like to be out there enjoying the mountains rather than looking at them on a monitor but realistically Mont Blanc is an incredibly challenging summit for even the most experienced mountaineer. This gives us all a chance to enjoy the mountain and understand a lot more about how it is changing as the temperatures rise as well.

We love this site, you can check it out for yourself or read about it on the Google blog on the links below.
