Happy September everybody! Our Buying Team have been busy for the last few months, working with the very best outdoor brands to bring you the best clothing, kit and footwear for the new season. We grabbed our menswear, womenswear, rucksack and footwear buyers for sixty seconds each to bring you a quick run-down of what’s new and exciting for autumn winter 2016.

Amy Williams, Womenswear Buyer

Amy Williams Cotswold OutdoorOur women’s and children’s buyer Amy has worked for Cotswold Outdoor for 5 years. Any time not spent outdoors is spent whipping up tasty food in the kitchen, or out on the road bike trying to master the toe clips! She’s travelled to over 20 countries, however her favourite destination in the world is the Gower coastline, where she has spent many a happy holiday. Amy plans to travel to Machu Picchu next year to tick another amazing place off her list.

What’s the best product for protection from the inevitable British weather this season?

I’d go with the Mountain Equipment Janak Jacket – it’s a streamlined shelter from the worst conditions thanks to its resilient GORE-TEX® Pro 80D fabric. Otherwise, the Rab Electron is a great shout for colder weather with its water resistant Pertex® Endurance shell.

How would you describe the autumn winter womenswear range in 3 words?

Refreshed, colourful and exciting!

What’s the most exciting thing about the new range?

The breath of our technical and lifestyle insulation range – every piece has been tried on to ensure we’re catering for all shapes and sizes. I’m also really excited about new brand Kari Traa which is new to the UK this season. It’s got amazing colour with brilliant prints in a cosy merino base layer.

Kat Douglas – Rucksack Buyer

Kat DouglasCotswold Outdoor rucksack buyer Kat has been working with us for four years. Her favourite place she’s ever visited is the beautiful South Island, New Zealand, and if she could visit anywhere in the world it would be America to take in as many of the National Parks as possible. Kat’s biggest outdoor challenge has been 2 weeks unsupported trekking through Nepal, which she took on this year.

If you had to wear one product from the AW16 range every day for the season, what would it be and why?

Millican Fraser the Rucksack 25L – Millican are a brand I love, with beautifully made products, as well as strong links to the outdoors and the environment. The Fraser is a great crossover from outdoor use to everyday urban use.

Which products break the latest technology boundaries we’ve never seen broken before?

The Osprey Manta and Mira packs still represent the most technologically advanced back system that we’ve seen in a small daypack, paving the way for some exciting new products in 2017…

Which product are you most excited to stock?

Women’s Montane Yarara 32 – it’s a very light, well thought-out women’s specific mountain walking pack that crosses over well to winter use.

Sam Crouch, Menswear Buyer

Samantha Crouch, Menswear BuyerMenswear buyer Sam Crouch has been working for Cotswold Outdoor for over 7 years. When she’s not carefully crafting our latest menswear ranges, you can find her running, cycling or swimming (but rarely standing still!). Her biggest outdoors achievement has been deep sea diving with manta rays, and her favourite adventure destination is Bali for the amazing diving experiences.

How would you sum up the new menswear range in 3 words?

Exciting, new and fun!

If you had to wear one product from the AW16 range every day for the whole year, which would it be and why?

Fjällräven Skogsko Padded Jacket – this version is padded with G-Loft Supreme for extra insulation, which is easy to move around in. Perfect for winter outings!

Tim Kington, Footwear Buyer

Tim KingtonFootwear, rucksacks and travel buyer Tim Kington has worked for Cotswold Outdoor for over 18 years. When he’s not up a mountain with his dog Otter, you can find him out with his camera taking pictures in the outdoors. One of his favourite outdoor activities is mountain climbing, his favourite country is Nepal because ‘it’s all beautiful’, and his dream adventure would be a self-led trip 6,190 metres to the top of Mount McKinley in North America.

Which product are you most excited to stock?

Scarpa Trek Lady GTX – the feedback on the fit has been amazing, and it’s actually quite a different boot to the men’s trek.

If you had to wear one product from the AW16 range every day for the whole season, what would it be and why?

Keen Feldberg – I’ve been wearing these for a few months; they are extremely comfortable to wear casually, yet still perfectly capable of tackling most types of walking.

The Scarpa Charmoz Pro features Outdry technology in an Alpine boot, so it doesn’t absorb any water, keeping the weight down and maximising warmth.
